SOTIRIS CHRYSANTHOU
Bio//
Sotiris Chrysanthou is a Musician and Visual and Performing Artist. He studied classical music with honours and graduated in 2011.. He was born in 1989 and raised in a musical environment, in Cyprus, and from the age of four he started to play the piano and violin. He performed classical music but also Greek folk music in various events, not only in UK but in different European countries. In September 2011 he started his Masters Degree in Performance and Visual Practices in the University of Brighton and graduated in 2012 with Merit . Since then he is teaching Music ( Piano , Vocals and Theory of Music) in Paphos' Music School in Cyprus. He also composed Music for various Contemporary Theater plays and the last period was a Vocal Coach in The Musical Kids talent show in a National Television Station.

THE MUSICAL KIDS
The Musical Kids was a talent show in a National Television Station ‘SIGMA TV’ , Cyprus.
12 kids , aged 8-15 with talent in Singing , dance and theatre were divided in 4 teams.
The show lasted for 20 episodes with every episode to be different and unique! Every week with different songs from famous Musicals, Cinema , and Pop and Rock charts all the kids were ready as professionals to amazed their audiences but also the 4 judges.
The show ended with the 1st winner to be George Michaelidis from Sotiris Chrysanthous’ Team!

Sotiris Chrysanthou return back to Cyprus in 2012.In the same year he created an Art Organization. Cyprus Fringe is an art community with the major arts festivals in Cyprus (Rainbow Festival of Fine Arts , Cyprus Fringe Festival) and what makes it unique is the fact that it is established in Paphos,a city with exceptional tradition which has set the speed, variety, originality and ground-breaking thinking in the Paphos city.
Its main aim is to motivate, instruct and amuse a wide audience by providing a setting for assorted art forms. It is also an entirely open access festival, which means that anybody can put on an event and also be included in the pamphlet and website program on free of charge.
By definition, Cyprus Fringe can comprise of any art form. No artistic ruling or assortment principles are executed on members, allowing the expansion of both innovative and well-known work to invite fresh viewers, media and supporters. Cyprus Fringe is an establishment which supports artists, producers and audiences.

Founder's propose is to organize every July in the next years similirar Festivals that aims to bring and link together all fine arts, theater , visual arts and performances , to offer the opportunity to local and international artists professional and not to come together and show their work. Already Cyprus Fringe Festivals included art exhibitions , art installations , graffitti, flea market, contemporary dances and theater, storytellings, invisible theatre and many more but as an organization it will try to expand and develop it as much as it is possible in order to cover more Art fields. Finally as an organisation (Cyprus Fringe) does not target only Cypriots audiences but also international. Inviting some of the world's leading artists , musicians and intellectuals to Cyprus, the Cyprus Fringe also enables cultural tourism to grow.

TITLE IS MISSING

TITLE IS MISSING was an artistic research project exploring war and conflict, trans-generational trauma, the un-representable, loss, and the mother-figure.TITLE IS MISSING, was an audiovisual installation about Sotiris Chrysanthou's personal experiences of his divided country. The project uses a distortion of both images and sound or voice, as well as multiplication, layering and repetition in order to (re)create the chaos and aphasia of the war. [‘aphasia’ Greek, from aphatos, speechless].
The work TITLE IS MISSING explores the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Rather than giving specific details about the war, the project focuses mainly on the emotional consequences for the people who lived through the war ( Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots) and includes his own experiences as a representative of the post-war generation.
The exhibition was supported by the Cyprus Fringe Art Organisation, the Paphos 2017,an organisation who support young artists in Cyprus and finally the Municipality of my hometown Paphos.
The whole project with the help of Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture travelled across Europe such as Belin/Germany , Athens/Greece and Brighton/United Kingdom.

Sotiris Chysanthou composed various pieces for many theater plays in Cyprus and Greece. His last music compositions was for The Red Bench, a physical and experimental theater which tool place in Cyprus in 2015.
